Las Vegas traffic presents dangers that go far beyond slow-moving congestion and fender-benders. High-speed collisions on I-15, chaotic merging near tourist corridors, and unpredictable rideshare drivers combine to create conditions where even a short drive can turn dangerous.
Visitors unfamiliar with city traffic patterns often mix with residents commuting at rush hour, making intersections and freeway off-ramps especially volatile. Whether you were hit by a distracted driver outside a casino or rear-ended on the 215, the trauma from a crash in this city can ripple through every part of your life.
Many of our clients walk away from the initial accident scene in a state of confusion, unsure of what just happened, only to wake up days later with worsening pain, rising medical bills, and pressure from insurance adjusters. Recovering from a car accident in Las Vegas is not just about healing physically. It also means holding the right parties accountable and making sure your claim is not minimized or denied.
Consulting experienced auto accident attorneys is crucial to navigate legal procedures, determine fault, and negotiate with insurance companies to maximize your compensation. A serious law firm with a personal touch. Craig is a great lawyer, if you’re looking for someone to fight for you, you’ll want him. Communication was not only amazing, but many options provided to communicate through phone, email, or text, to make it an absolute breeze. He is very professional, timely, and attentive. He also provided a ton of advice and was never unable to provide me with a quick response and excellent counsel. Nataly, she is the absolute best!!! She really made my experience over the top, and is the reason I would return again. Naturally lawyers are going to be busy, but with her as Craig’s assistant, I never once noticed, She provides a very personal “one on one” dynamic to the law firm. She is on top of her stuff! She had everything I needed at all times and was basically an extension of Craig himself, always having exactly what I needed, immediately! She was the kindest and most down to earth assistant I’ve ever spoken with. Very easy and dare I say, enjoyable to talk to! She is on top of it!!! Whether it’s a text, call, or email, she was on it and responding in minutes with whatever I needed and the best most pleasant attitude!!! That cannot go understated, THAT attitude made all the difference. She also handled me as a client the way I’d expect to be a handled in a higher end more serious law firm and checked on me regularly about things I needed and took control of making sure I was assisted and everything was handled before I even had to ask, extremely professional!! I appreciate being able to be so hands off myself and being able to trust in a company so much, knowing and feeling that they had my back every step of the way, I felt heard the entire time with my concerns and appreciate trusting them to do what’s best for me even when I wasn’t present. The best feeling!! Truly felt handled with care and like I was dealing with the best team in my side. Thanks again!! You’re the bestPosted on Google![]()

My husband was in a car accident and Mr. Drummond was recommended by a friend at work. We went to three other lawyers first, and never got past their paralegals. When we met with Craig, we ACTUALLY met with Craig, which was a pleasant (and unexpected surprise). The initial consultation went very smoothly; Craig was clear about what (probably) would and would not happen, and he patiently went over a detailed timeline with us, before we even retained him. Everything went exactly as he said it would. When we had questions, he took our calls. If he was not available, we heard back within 2 hours. When I was having trouble with the insurance company, he said he'd handle it, and he did. The best part was that our case was settled three weeks earlier than he'd projected, with a settlement that we'd requested in the beginning. Craig and his staff really made a difficult, intimidating situation so easy. If we ever need an attorney again, I have no doubt where we are going.
Understanding Your Rights After a Car Accident in Nevada
If you were injured in a crash caused by someone else, you have the right to pursue financial compensation under Nevada law. This may include payment for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and long-term disability. Understanding your car accident claim worth involves evaluating factors such as medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and property damage to assess the overall value of your claim. Your legal rights do not depend on the severity of your injuries alone. They depend on the evidence, the circumstances of the crash, and how well your claim is documented and presented.
Nevada follows a fault-based system, which means the person who caused the accident is legally responsible for the harm that followed. That sounds simple, but insurance companies rarely admit fault willingly. In many cases, they attempt to shift blame to the victim or dispute the extent of the injuries. Legal representation can help you recover compensation even when insurance companies dispute liability, ensuring your rights are protected. Our firm steps in to protect your rights, gather evidence, and prepare a claim that clearly shows who was responsible and why compensation is owed.
There is a limited window of time to take legal action. In Nevada, the statute of limitations for a personal injury claim is generally two years from the date of the crash. However, critical evidence such as surveillance video, dash cam footage, or physical debris can disappear within days or weeks. The sooner you speak with an attorney, the better your chances of securing the documentation needed to support your case. Most car accident cases are resolved through a car accident settlement, and having legal support can maximize your outcome.
Common Causes of Car Accidents in Las Vegas
Car accidents happen for many reasons, but in Las Vegas, certain risk factors stand out. The city’s fast-paced traffic, tourism-driven congestion, and constant rideshare activity create conditions that increase the likelihood of collisions. Las Vegas has a high rate of automobile accidents, with factors such as distracted driving, speeding, and negligent behavior all contributing to these incidents.
These accidents often happen in familiar locations such as the Strip, freeway exits, and busy intersections where driver attention is at its lowest. Drunk drivers also pose a significant danger on Las Vegas roads, frequently causing motor vehicle accidents that result in serious injuries and fatalities.
Distracted or Intoxicated Drivers
Drivers using cell phones, adjusting navigation, or simply failing to pay attention are responsible for a significant portion of collisions in Clark County. Some are also under the influence of alcohol or cannabis. These distractions make it more difficult to respond to changes in traffic, and even a moment of inattention can result in a crash. Tourists are especially prone to this behavior because they are unfamiliar with the area and often split their attention between navigation apps and the road. Drummond is your distracted driving accident lawyer in Las Vegas ready to represent victims fiercely.
Speeding and Reckless Behavior on the Strip
The Strip is filled with activity at all hours of the day. Despite posted limits, many drivers speed through it, weaving through lanes or ignoring pedestrian zones. That behavior becomes especially dangerous during events, conventions, or weekend rushes when visibility is reduced and traffic patterns are unpredictable. We offer representation as lawyers for speeding related accident in Las Vegas
Failure to Yield or Obey Traffic Signals
T-bone collisions, sideswipes, and left-turn accidents often happen because a driver ignores or misreads a traffic light. In a city where many intersections have limited visibility or unusual traffic flow, these split-second mistakes can lead to serious harm. Failing to yield is one of the most common violations we see in intersection crashes.
Rideshare and Commercial Vehicle Crashes
Las Vegas has one of the highest volumes of Uber, Lyft, and delivery services in the country. These drivers are often in a hurry, unfamiliar with local roadways, or under pressure to meet deadlines. They may make sudden stops, block lanes, or perform unexpected turns. When commercial vehicles are involved, liability can extend to the company that hired or managed the driver. At our firm, we offer expert representation as Uber accident lawyers in Las Vegas
Poor Road Conditions or Lack of Signage
While driver error is the most common cause of collisions, unsafe road conditions also play a role. Incomplete construction zones, lack of warning signs, or poor lighting may contribute to accidents that otherwise could have been avoided. In these cases, public entities or contractors responsible for road design or maintenance may share responsibility.
Drowsy and Fatigued Driving
Fatigued drivers cause a meaningful share of Las Vegas crashes, especially late at night and after long shifts on the Strip. Drowsiness slows reaction time and clouds judgment in ways that resemble drunk driving, and a driver who drifts across a lane or misses a stopped vehicle can cause a serious collision. Tourists driving after red-eye flights and casino workers leaving overnight shifts are especially at risk.
Weather and Road-Surface Conditions
Sudden desert rain, blowing dust, and low sun glare turn familiar roads hazardous within minutes, and flash flooding can make intersections and underpasses dangerous. Worn lane markings, poor lighting, and unfinished construction zones add to the risk. When a road hazard or defective design contributed to your crash, the public entity or contractor responsible may share liability.
Where Do Most Car Accidents Happen in Las Vegas?
Most serious Las Vegas car accidents cluster on a handful of high-volume corridors: the Spaghetti Bowl interchange, the I-15 resort corridor, US-95, and the busy Strip intersections, where heavy tourist traffic, fast freeway merges, and unfamiliar drivers meet. These locations produce many of the highest-injury crashes in Clark County.
Where a crash happened also shapes the evidence available and how fault is decided. A collision at a Strip intersection may be captured by casino and Regional Transportation Commission cameras, while a freeway pileup can turn on Nevada DOT footage and vehicle black-box data. Because that footage is often overwritten within days, Drummond Law Firm moves quickly to preserve the record before it disappears. To speak with a Las Vegas car accident attorney, call Drummond Law Firm 702-227-8246 at for a free consultation.
- The Spaghetti Bowl (I-15, US-95, and I-515 interchange). This stacked interchange northwest of downtown funnels the valley’s heaviest freeway traffic through short merges and sudden lane drops, where high-speed rear-end and merge collisions are common.
- I-15 through the resort corridor. Between Sahara Avenue and the 215 Beltway, stop-and-go traffic past the Strip exits produces chain rear-end crashes that at-fault drivers almost always blame on a sudden stop.
- US-95 and the 215 Beltway. These commuter-heavy routes around Summerlin and Henderson see high-speed lane-change and weaving crashes where several lanes narrow at interchange ramps.
- Strip and resort intersections. Las Vegas Boulevard, Flamingo Road, Tropicana Avenue, and Spring Mountain Road mix turning vehicles with valet, taxi, and heavy foot traffic, which drives a steady share of intersection and pedestrian collisions.
- The arena and downtown district. Event traffic around T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium, and the Fremont corridor creates dense late-night congestion where impaired and distracted driving spike.
When the stakes are high, you need an attorney who’s already been tested under pressure.
Types of Car Accidents We Handle in Las Vegas
Drummond Law Firm handles a wide range of car accident claims throughout Clark County, each with its own facts, evidence, and insurance complications. Whether a crash involves multiple vehicles, an uninsured driver, or a commercial party with a team of defense attorneys, Drummond Law Firm begins every case with thorough investigation and detailed preparation so fault is assigned accurately and damages are fully documented.
The Las Vegas car accident cases Drummond Law Firm handles include distracted-driving accidents, uninsured and underinsured motorist collisions, head-on collisions, T-bone and side-impact crashes, multi-vehicle and chain-reaction accidents, rental car accidents, rear-end collisions, and hit-and-run crashes.
At Drummond Law Firm, we know how to adapt our legal approach to the unique demands of each crash. Our goal is to make sure that fault is assigned accurately, damages are fully documented, and our clients are positioned to recover the compensation they deserve. We are committed to helping injury victims recover damages for their losses and navigate the legal process with confidence.
Distracted Driving Accidents
Distracted driving remains one of the top causes of preventable car accidents in Las Vegas. This includes texting, adjusting a GPS, eating, or simply looking away from the road. In many of these cases, the at-fault driver claims they never saw the victim’s vehicle. That admission alone can establish liability when combined with proper evidence collection. Drummond Law firm is your distracted driving accident lawyer
Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Collisions
Nevada requires drivers to carry minimum insurance coverage, but not all drivers follow the law, and there are significant risks if you are involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver. Even when they do, the coverage often falls short. We help clients file uninsured or underinsured motorist claims against their own policy, navigate denial tactics, and build a case that reflects the full scope of their injuries and losses. We are uninsured motorist accident attorneys in Las Vegas
Head-On Collisions
Frontal-impact crashes are often catastrophic. These incidents tend to happen at higher speeds and result in severe injuries or fatalities. Whether the cause was wrong-way driving, drifting across the center line, or an unsafe pass, we pursue aggressive litigation in head-on collision cases and work with accident reconstruction experts to support our claims.
T-Bone and Side-Impact Crashes
Side-impact collisions, also known as t bone accidents, typically occur in intersections when one driver runs a red light, fails to yield, or misjudges oncoming traffic. Victims often suffer serious injuries T-bone accidents are particularly severe because there is little space between the point of impact and the vehicle occupant, often leading to serious injuries due to the lack of side protection. These cases frequently require eyewitness accounts, traffic camera footage, and precise fault analysis.
Multi-Vehicle and Chain Reaction Accidents
When more than two vehicles are involved in a crash, fault becomes harder to determine. One careless driver may have started the sequence, but others could be partially responsible for additional impacts. We investigate timing, lane position, and physical damage patterns to establish liability and protect our clients from being unfairly blamed. Drummond Law Firm offers expert representation as multi-vehicle accident attorney in Las Vegas, with the required expertise to navigate the complexities of these cases.
Rental Car Accidents
Tourists frequently rent vehicles when visiting Las Vegas. These drivers may be unfamiliar with local roads, distracted by navigation systems, or fatigued from travel. Rental car accidents can involve multiple insurance providers, including the rental agency, third-party policies, and the driver’s own carrier. We untangle these overlapping policies and pursue every available source of compensation. Contact Drummond as your rental car accident attorney in Las Vegas

Rear-End Collisions
Rear-end crashes are often underestimated. Even at lower speeds, they can cause whiplash, concussions, and chronic back pain. These accidents may appear straightforward, but insurance companies often claim that the victim stopped suddenly or contributed to the crash. We gather brake data, witness statements, and surveillance footage to build a solid claim. For legal representation in rear-end accidents in Las Vegas contact Drummond Law Firm
Hit-and-Run Crashes
When the at-fault driver leaves the scene, victims are left to deal with medical expenses and property damage on their own. We help clients file uninsured motorist claims, work with law enforcement to track down drivers, and use all available evidence to pursue justice—even when the other vehicle cannot be immediately identified. If you have been involved in such type of accident, contact Drummond Law Firm as your hit and run accident lawyer in Las Vegas

I had an excellent experience with Drummond Law Firm! They exceeded my expectations and more.Serious Injuries From Car Accidents Require Serious Legal Attention
Some injuries heal in a matter of weeks. Others follow victims for the rest of their lives. When a crash causes lasting pain, reduced mobility, or permanent impairment, the legal claim must reflect the full impact of that trauma—not just the immediate medical bills. In Nevada, bodily injury resulting from a car accident carries significant legal implications, including insurance requirements and obligations to report such incidents to law enforcement. At Drummond Law Firm, we work with physicians, therapists, and financial experts to project long-term needs and ensure every loss is accounted for.
We understand that nerve damage, back injuries, and head trauma can reshape how you work, move, sleep, and engage with your family. These are not minor inconveniences. They are life-altering injuries that deserve to be taken seriously. Our firm builds every claim with that in mind, drawing on extensive experience handling personal injuries resulting from car accidents.
Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions
Even if you did not lose consciousness at the scene, a head injury can still cause serious complications. Memory loss, headaches, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating are all signs of traumatic brain injury. These symptoms may worsen over time and often require months of neurological care, testing, and therapy. Drummond offers representation as TBI injury lawyer in Las Vegas
Spinal Cord Damage and Back Injuries
Injuries to the spine and surrounding muscles are common in both low- and high-impact crashes. Herniated discs, fractured vertebrae, and pinched nerves can cause radiating pain and limited movement. Some victims require surgery, while others face permanent disability. For spinal cord injuries suffered from accidents, contact Drummond Law Firm to explore your options to pursue a personal injury case
Fractures, Dislocations, and Orthopedic Trauma
Broken bones and joint injuries are often immediately visible but may have lasting effects. Surgical repair, hardware implants, and physical therapy can take months. In more serious cases, mobility may never fully return, especially if the injury involves a dominant hand, weight-bearing joint, or multiple fracture sites.
Internal Injuries and Bleeding
Damage to internal organs may not show symptoms right away, but it can be fatal if untreated. Crashes often cause blunt force trauma to the abdomen or chest. Victims may suffer liver damage, internal bleeding, or collapsed lungs. These injuries require emergency intervention and extended hospitalization.
Post-Traumatic Stress and Emotional Harm
The emotional toll of a car accident can linger long after physical injuries have healed. Clients frequently report sleep problems, anxiety, flashbacks, or a fear of driving. Emotional trauma is real, and under Nevada law, it is compensable. Our firm includes psychological evaluations and therapy costs in every claim when relevant.
Whiplash and Soft-Tissue Injuries
Whiplash and other soft-tissue injuries are the most common car accident injuries, and also the ones insurers most often dismiss. The sudden force of a rear-end or side-impact crash strains the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the neck and back, and the pain and stiffness frequently appear a day or two later rather than at the scene.
These injuries rarely show up on an initial X-ray, which insurers use to argue you were barely hurt. We counter that tactic with prompt medical records, imaging, and treatment notes that connect your symptoms to the crash. Untreated soft-tissue damage can turn into chronic pain, so early care protects both your health and your claim.
Who Can Be Held Liable for a Las Vegas Car Crash?
Determining fault is not always as simple as pointing to the driver who ran the red light. Car accident claims often involve multiple parties. One driver may be clearly negligent, but others—including companies, contractors, or even public agencies—may also bear legal responsibility. Other drivers who engage in reckless or negligent behavior, such as reckless driving or drunk driving, pose significant dangers to everyone on the road and can be held accountable for the harm they cause. Our role is to identify every accountable party and pursue the compensation you are entitled to.
Nevada follows a comparative negligence system. This means more than one party can be assigned a percentage of fault. As long as you are less than 50 percent responsible for the crash, you can still recover damages. However, your total award will be reduced by your percentage of fault. This makes it essential to have strong legal representation that can push back against inflated blame or incomplete investigations.
Negligent Motorists and Hit-and-Run Drivers
The most common liable party is the other driver. Whether they were speeding, distracted, impaired, or reckless, we collect the evidence needed to prove how their actions caused the crash. In hit-and-run cases, we pursue compensation through uninsured motorist claims and, when possible, assist in identifying the vehicle involved.
Rideshare or Delivery Companies
If the at-fault driver was working for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, or a delivery service, the company may be financially responsible under their commercial insurance policy. These claims require careful documentation of the driver’s employment status and vehicle use at the time of the crash.
Government Agencies Responsible for Unsafe Roads
Poor road design, lack of signage, or failure to maintain intersections may open the door to liability against a public entity. These cases have strict notice requirements and filing deadlines, which makes early legal intervention critical.
Vehicle Manufacturers in Defective Parts Claims
If a tire blowout, brake failure, or airbag malfunction contributed to the crash or worsened your injuries, the manufacturer may be held accountable under a product liability theory. We work with engineers and forensic experts to evaluate mechanical failure and include those claims where appropriate.
How Is Fault Proven in a Nevada Car Accident Claim?
Fault in a Nevada car accident claim is proven by establishing negligence, which requires four elements: duty, breach, causation, and damages. Every driver owes a duty to operate safely; when a driver breaches that duty by speeding, texting, or running a light, and that breach directly causes a crash that injures you, the legal basis for compensation is established.
Nevada applies modified comparative negligence under NRS 41.141, which allows you to recover as long as you are 50 percent or less at fault, with your award reduced by your share of the blame. Because insurers push to shift a larger percentage onto you, documenting fault clearly protects the value of your claim. Drummond Law Firm proves each element with the police report, traffic and business surveillance footage, vehicle black-box data, photographs, and witness statements, and brings in accident-reconstruction experts in disputed cases to show exactly how the collision happened.
What Are Nevada’s Minimum Car Insurance Requirements After a Crash?
Nevada requires every driver to carry at least $25,000 in bodily injury coverage per person, $50,000 per accident, and $20,000 in property damage coverage, written as 25/50/20. Those minimums are only a floor, and in a serious freeway or Strip-corridor crash they are often gone after a single hospital stay.
Plenty of valley drivers carry only the minimum, and some out-of-state visitors let their coverage lapse entirely. When the at-fault driver has too little insurance or none at all, your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, known as UM and UIM, becomes the primary source of recovery rather than a backup.
Reviewing every policy that might apply is one of the first things we do on your case. We pursue the at-fault driver’s insurer, your own UM and UIM coverage, and any commercial policy in play, so a low-limits driver does not leave you paying for someone else’s crash.
What to Do Immediately After a Car Accident in Las Vegas
The steps you take in the hours and days after a crash can shape the outcome of your legal claim. At Drummond Law Firm, we encourage clients to focus on their safety and then take action to protect their rights. Even if you believe the accident was minor, gathering the right documentation early can make all the difference. It is also crucial to seek medical attention immediately after an accident, even if injuries seem minor, to ensure proper treatment and to document any injuries for your claim.
Even if you believe the accident was minor, gathering the right documentation early can make all the difference. Obtaining police reports is especially important, as they serve as crucial evidence in establishing liability and supporting your insurance claim.
1
Seek Immediate Medical Attention
Do not wait to see how you feel tomorrow. Many injuries take time to develop symptoms, and gaps in treatment are often used by insurance companies to downplay your condition. Getting medical care right away helps protect your health and creates a documented record that connects your injuries to the crash.

Document the Scene and Gather Evidence
If you are physically able, take photographs of the crash site, the damage to each vehicle, road conditions, traffic lights, and anything else that may have contributed to the incident. This evidence may be removed, cleaned up, or lost within hours.
3
Collect Witness Information and Insurance Details
Get names and contact information for anyone who saw what happened. Witness statements can be especially helpful in disputed cases. Also, collect the at-fault driver’s insurance information, vehicle make and model, and license plate.
4
Avoid Speaking With Insurers Before Consulting a Lawyer
Insurance adjusters may contact you quickly, often sounding helpful or friendly. Remember, their job is to limit payouts. Do not give recorded statements or sign any documents without speaking with an attorney who represents your interests. Our firm can take over all communication and make sure your side of the story is properly documented.

How Drummond Law Firm Investigates Car Accident Cases in Las Vegas
Drummond Law Firm builds every car accident case on facts, not insurance narratives, applying the same discipline that defined founding attorney Craig Drummond’s military career. Whether a crash happened on I-15, at a suburban intersection, or outside a casino valet entrance, Drummond Law Firm works quickly to secure the evidence that supports the claim.
The Drummond Law Firm investigation begins with a review of the accident report to identify gaps in the official narrative. The firm then requests and preserves traffic-camera footage, surveillance from nearby businesses, and black-box data from involved vehicles, and photographs damage, measures skid marks, and evaluates road conditions. In multi-vehicle cases, Drummond Law Firm consults crash-reconstruction experts to analyze vehicle position, angles of impact, and collision sequence. Our firm also contacts witnesses early, while memories are fresh, and takes sworn statements when needed a step that often prevents insurers from reshaping the story later.
Our goal is to make your case undeniable. Whether we negotiate a fair settlement or take the matter to trial, we build your case from the ground up based on facts that cannot be ignored or dismissed.
Types of Compensation Available to Car Accident Victims
Nevada law allows car accident victims to seek compensation for both economic and non-economic losses. This includes medical expenses, time away from work, emotional trauma, and long-term disabilities that alter the course of your life. At Drummond Law Firm, we work with doctors, economists, and vocational experts to calculate the true value of your claim—so you are not left covering costs that should be paid by the at-fault party. As a leading personal injury law firm, Drummond is dedicated to maximizing compensation for our clients and ensuring their rights are fully protected.
Punitive Damages in Nevada Car Accident Cases
Punitive damages are available in Nevada when the at-fault driver’s conduct went beyond ordinary carelessness into fraud, malice, or oppression, such as a drunk driver who chose to get behind the wheel. Unlike compensation for your losses, punitive damages exist to punish that conduct and deter others.
Nevada law caps punitive damages under NRS 42.005 at three times your compensatory damages when those damages are $100,000 or more, or at $300,000 when they are less. Certain cases, including those involving an intoxicated driver, are treated differently. We evaluate whether the facts of your crash support a punitive claim and pursue it when they do.
Medical Bills and Ongoing Treatment Costs
Your recovery may include emergency care, hospitalization, imaging scans, surgeries, rehabilitation, and prescription medication. Some injuries require years of physical therapy or future operations. We collect all medical records and invoices and, when appropriate, project future treatment needs to ensure nothing is overlooked.
Lost Wages and Diminished Future Earnings
Many clients are forced to miss work while they recover from their injuries. Others find they can no longer return to the same career or work the same hours. We document missed time, calculate lost wages, and assess how your future earning capacity has been affected. In some cases, we partner with vocational analysts who specialize in job placement and functional limitations.
Pain, Suffering, and Emotional Distress
Physical pain is only part of what car accident victims endure. Loss of sleep, inability to exercise, disrupted relationships, and psychological trauma are all compensable under Nevada law. These damages may not come with a receipt, but they are real. We take time to understand how the crash has impacted your daily life and present those effects in a compelling and honest way.
Permanent Disability or Disfigurement
If your injuries result in long-term impairment, scarring, or amputation, your case must reflect those changes. This includes not only medical needs, but also the emotional and logistical challenges of adapting to a new reality. We help clients plan for accessibility, household modifications, in-home care, and the loss of independence that often follows major trauma.
Wrongful Death Benefits for Surviving Families
When a fatal car crash claims the life of a loved one, Nevada law allows immediate family members to file a wrongful death claim. This type of case may include funeral costs, loss of household income, and the emotional loss of guidance, protection, and companionship. Our firm works closely with surviving families to ensure their story is heard with dignity and that justice is pursued fully.
What Makes Las Vegas Car Accident Claims Unique
Las Vegas is unlike any other city. The high volume of tourist traffic, the 24-hour activity, and the concentration of rideshare vehicles all contribute to a higher risk of serious collisions. As a result, injury claims here often involve more than just two private drivers. In many cases, at least one party is operating a rental car, working for a gig platform, or driving on unfamiliar streets. Navigating a Nevada car accident involves unique challenges, including specific accident statistics, common causes, and legal considerations that are distinct to the state.
We regularly handle claims involving out-of-state drivers, nonresident victims, and companies headquartered in other jurisdictions. This creates additional legal considerations, especially when dealing with out-of-state insurers or corporate defendants. These cases require an attorney who understands Nevada law and knows how to protect your rights from start to finish.
Casino corridors, resort drop-off zones, and parking structures present their own challenges. Visibility may be limited. Foot traffic is heavy. Surveillance systems may not cover key areas. We are familiar with these environments and know how to investigate crashes that occur in high-traffic, high-liability zones.
Las Vegas also hosts dozens of major events each year. Conventions, concerts, and sports games dramatically increase traffic volume and roadway pressure. During these times, the risk of distracted, intoxicated, or aggressive driving increases. Our firm factors these seasonal patterns into every case we handle.
How Long Do You Have to File a Car Accident Claim in Nevada?
In Nevada, the standard statute of limitations for personal injury cases is two years from the date of the accident. This deadline also applies to wrongful death claims. If you wait too long to file a claim, you may lose the legal right to pursue compensation—even if the facts are clearly in your favor. While most car accident cases are resolved before trial, often through settlement or alternative dispute resolution, it is still essential to act within the statute of limitations to protect your rights.
Certain exceptions may apply in cases involving minors, public entities, or delayed injury discovery. However, these exceptions are limited and strictly enforced. That is why we encourage anyone injured in a car crash to speak with a qualified attorney as soon as possible. Early action allows us to gather evidence, track down witnesses, and prepare your claim while the details are still fresh.
In some cases, particularly those involving government vehicles or unsafe public infrastructure, a special notice of claim must be filed before the lawsuit itself. These notices have even shorter deadlines and strict formatting rules. If they are not submitted correctly, the claim may be barred altogether.
Waiting also increases the risk of evidence being lost or destroyed. Traffic camera footage is often deleted within days. Skid marks fade. Vehicles are repaired or scrapped. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to prove your case. Our team moves quickly to preserve what matters and protect your right to recover.

Nevada follows a comparative negligence rule, meaning you can sue for damages even if partially at fault, as long as your fault is less than 50%. Your compensation will be reduced by your percentage of fault. A skilled Las Vegas car accident attorney can help maximize your recovery.
You may claim economic damages (medical bills, lost wages, car repairs), non-economic damages (pain and suffering), and, in rare cases, punitive damages for reckless behavior. An experienced car accident lawyer in Las Vegas can evaluate your case to identify all eligible damages.
Avoid speaking to the at-fault driver’s insurance adjuster before consulting a lawyer. Insurance companies may use your statements to minimize payouts. Report the accident to your own insurer but stick to basic facts. A Las Vegas car accident lawyer can handle communications to protect your claim.
If police responded to your accident, they automatically file a report. You can request a copy from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s website or in person, providing your name and accident details. A Las Vegas car accident attorney can assist in obtaining and interpreting the report to strengthen your case.
If the other driver is uninsured, you may pursue compensation through your own uninsured motorist coverage, if purchased, or file a civil lawsuit against the driver. These cases are complex, so working with a car accident lawyer in Las Vegas is essential to explore all options.
A lawyer helps prove fault, gathers evidence, negotiates with insurance companies, and ensures you receive fair compensation for injuries and damages. They navigate Nevada’s traffic laws and handle complex legal processes. Contact the Drummond Firm for a free consultation to discuss your case.
Most Las Vegas car accident lawyers, including the Drummond Firm, work on a contingency fee basis, meaning you pay no upfront costs. Discuss fee structures during your free consultation to ensure transparency.
If your car accident case involves medical malpractice—such as injuries made worse by negligent medical care—you may have a claim against the healthcare professional or facility responsible. Medical malpractice insurance typically covers these claims, but pursuing damages can be complex. It is important to seek legal representation experienced in both car accident and medical malpractice cases to help you navigate the process and maximize your compensation.
