North Las Vegas Truck Accident Lawyer

North Las Vegas sees heavy traffic from both regional commuters and long-haul commercial vehicles. With I-15 cutting through the city and warehouse zones expanding across the valley, large trucks are a daily reality. Unfortunately, they bring significant risk. When a fully loaded 80,000-pound semi-truck collides with a passenger vehicle, the outcome is rarely a minor injury. These accidents often result in catastrophic harm, permanent disability, or loss of life.

Truck accident claims are not like standard car crashes. Victims often face multiple defendants, complex layers of insurance, and trucking companies with legal teams trained to minimize payouts. When serious injuries are involved, there is no room for error. At Drummond Law Firm, we step in quickly, investigate thoroughly, and pursue justice with the preparation and discipline these cases demand.

Battle-Tested Legal Support for Truck Crash Victims in North Las Vegas

Trucking companies and their insurers do not play fair. They often send investigators to the crash scene within hours and build their defense before the victim has even been discharged from the hospital. That is why working with a trial-ready legal team from the beginning can make all the difference.

Led by Former U.S. Army Captain Craig W. Drummond

As a former U.S. Army JAG officer and Bronze Star recipient, he has spent years handling high-stakes litigation with discipline and focus. That background directly benefits truck accident victims, especially when facing corporate defendants who fight hard to avoid liability.

Where and How Truck Accidents Happen in North Las Vegas

Truck accidents can happen anywhere, but certain roads and traffic patterns in North Las Vegas increase the risk. Our firm has represented clients injured in crashes near major distribution centers, warehouse zones, and intersections that see frequent congestion or confusion. Understanding the location and cause helps us establish fault and prevent the trucking company from shifting blame.

I-15 and Craig Road Interchanges

The I-15 corridor is a high-speed route used by commercial vehicles entering and leaving Las Vegas. Interchanges like Craig Road and Cheyenne Avenue are common sites of high-speed merging, sudden braking, and lane changes. When trucks do not account for traffic density or signal properly, devastating rear-end or sideswipe crashes occur.

Industrial Traffic Near Distribution Warehouses

With the growth of fulfillment centers and supply hubs in North Las Vegas, heavy truck traffic now fills previously quiet streets. Drivers unfamiliar with local routes often miss turns, block intersections, or navigate improperly marked roads. These areas are especially dangerous for passenger vehicles and pedestrians.

Speeding or Inattention in Mixed-Use Zones

Trucks traveling through mixed-use corridors—where schools, homes, and businesses are close together—present a serious hazard. A moment of inattention or a late turn can leave no time for smaller vehicles or pedestrians to avoid a collision. These crashes are often severe due to the truck’s mass and stopping distance.

Poor Visibility and Congestion Near US-95

Traffic bottlenecks near US-95 and surrounding arterials make it difficult for truck drivers to react quickly. Poor visibility at night or in bad weather further increases the danger. Our team investigates whether drivers were moving too fast for conditions or failed to follow safety protocols for low-visibility operation.

Types of Truck Accidents We Handle

Every truck accident is different. The size, weight, cargo, and type of vehicle all influence how the crash occurs—and how we investigate it. Drummond Law Firm is experienced in handling all major types of truck collisions in North Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

Rear-End and Underride Collisions

Rear-end crashes involving large trucks are especially dangerous for passenger vehicles. The height difference between the front of a truck and the rear of a car can result in underride accidents, where the smaller vehicle slides underneath the trailer. These collisions often result in traumatic brain injuries, decapitation, or other fatal outcomes.

Jackknife and Rollover Accidents

When a truck’s trailer swings out of alignment with the cab, the vehicle loses control. Jackknife crashes block multiple lanes and cause chain-reaction pileups. Rollover crashes, often caused by speeding, cargo imbalance, or abrupt maneuvers, can trap nearby vehicles or spill hazardous materials across the roadway.

Wide-Turn and Squeeze Zone Crashes

Trucks require extra space to make turns. When they fail to check blind spots or misjudge distance, they can pin vehicles between the truck and the curb or another car. These are known as squeeze zone accidents and often leave drivers with crush injuries or worse.

Tire Blowouts and Cargo Spills

Improper maintenance or overloading can lead to tire blowouts, which cause trucks to swerve, lose control, or overturn. Cargo that is not properly secured may spill onto the road, striking other vehicles or creating hazards that lead to secondary collisions. These incidents often point to driver negligence, poor training, or company-level violations.

Injuries Common in Large Truck Collisions

In a crash between a large truck and a passenger vehicle, the smaller car always loses. These collisions involve high force, high speed, and often high trauma. The injuries victims face can take months or years to treat, and some never fully recover.

Traumatic Brain and Head Injuries

Blunt trauma to the head is common in truck crashes, especially in underride, rollover, or high-speed impact scenarios. Victims may suffer concussions, brain bleeds, memory loss, or long-term cognitive difficulties. Recovery often requires neurological care, speech therapy, and psychological support.

Spinal Cord Damage and Paralysis

Truck accidents are a leading cause of spinal cord injuries in Nevada. A fractured vertebra or severed spinal cord may result in partial or complete paralysis. Even non-permanent spinal injuries can limit mobility, cause chronic pain, and require multiple surgeries or long-term physical therapy.

Fractures, Crush Injuries, and Internal Bleeding

Broken bones and crush injuries are common when a vehicle is trapped under or alongside a large truck. These injuries may require pins, rods, or reconstructive surgery. Internal organ damage or bleeding may not show symptoms immediately but can be life-threatening without quick intervention.

Post-Traumatic Stress and Psychological Harm

The emotional toll of a truck accident can be just as lasting as the physical injuries. Victims often experience anxiety, depression, nightmares, or fear of driving. These symptoms affect daily life, relationships, and employment. Mental health support should be part of any complete recovery plan.

Who Can Be Held Liable in a North Las Vegas Truck Crash?

Truck accident claims are often more complex than other injury cases because multiple parties may be involved. While the driver may be the person behind the wheel, the crash may result from decisions made by the company, the people responsible for loading the vehicle, or the manufacturer of the equipment. Identifying every liable party is essential to pursuing full compensation.

Truck Drivers and Commercial Vehicle Operators

Professional drivers are required to follow strict safety protocols, including speed limits, hours-of-service regulations, and sobriety requirements. If a truck driver fails to yield, speeds through an intersection, or operates while fatigued or impaired, they can be held directly responsible for causing the crash.

Trucking Companies and Logistics Carriers

Employers are responsible for hiring qualified drivers, training them properly, and maintaining safe practices. When a trucking company pushes drivers to meet unrealistic deadlines or fails to conduct background checks, they may be held liable for the consequences. Carriers are also responsible for keeping trucks in good condition and ensuring compliance with safety rules.

Cargo Loaders and Maintenance Contractors

Improperly loaded cargo can shift during transit, causing the truck to tip, jackknife, or lose control. In many cases, third-party loading companies are responsible for securing freight. Similarly, if a maintenance provider overlooks a serious defect during an inspection or skips scheduled service, they may share liability when equipment failure contributes to a crash.

Manufacturers of Defective Truck Components

Faulty tires, brakes, steering systems, or trailer hitches can turn a commercial vehicle into a deadly threat. When mechanical failure plays a role in a truck accident, the company that made or supplied the part may be held liable under product liability laws. These cases often require engineers or safety experts to identify what failed and why.

The Role of Federal and State Trucking Regulations

Truck drivers and their employers must follow strict rules set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Nevada Department of Transportation. These rules are in place to reduce the risk of catastrophic crashes. When a driver or company violates those standards, it is strong evidence of negligence.

Some of the most important safety rules include:

  • Hours-of-service limits that restrict how long a driver can operate without rest
  • Vehicle inspection requirements that ensure brakes, lights, tires, and other components are safe
  • Load securement rules that mandate how freight must be packed and tied down
  • Drug and alcohol testing requirements for commercial drivers

If a violation of these rules contributed to the crash, it can strengthen your case and may lead to additional penalties for the at-fault party. At Drummond Law Firm, we thoroughly investigate regulatory compliance and use those findings to build stronger claims.

Steps to Take After a Truck Accident in North Las Vegas

The minutes and hours after a truck crash can be overwhelming. But taking the right steps can protect your health, preserve crucial evidence, and strengthen your legal position. Whether you are reading this for yourself or a loved one, here is what we recommend.

Call Emergency Responders and Request a Police Report

Always contact law enforcement after a serious collision. The police report creates a formal record of the crash, including driver statements, vehicle locations, weather conditions, and witness information. This document is often a key part of establishing liability.

Seek Immediate Medical Care and Document Symptoms

Even if you feel stable, see a doctor as soon as possible. Some injuries, such as internal bleeding or spinal trauma, may not show symptoms right away. A prompt evaluation ensures your injuries are treated and creates a medical record that connects your condition to the crash.

Photograph Vehicle Damage and Road Conditions

Use your phone to take photos of all vehicles involved, including license plates, visible damage, and any logos or identifying markings on the truck. Also capture skid marks, debris, traffic signs, and anything else that may explain how the crash happened.

Contact a Lawyer Before Dealing With Insurance

Trucking companies and their insurers often begin their investigations within hours. Adjusters may contact you early, asking for a statement or offering a quick settlement. Do not speak to them without legal advice. Early mistakes can harm your ability to recover full compensation later on.

Compensation Available in Nevada Truck Accident Claims

Victims of truck crashes often face steep financial losses, long recoveries, and life-altering trauma. Under Nevada law, you have the right to seek compensation for every category of harm the accident caused—both economic and non-economic. At Drummond Law Firm, we work to identify the full value of your claim and document every aspect of your losses.

Emergency Medical Treatment and Rehabilitation

From the moment of impact, your medical needs may include ambulance transport, emergency surgery, hospitalization, and ongoing care. Recovery could involve physical therapy, assistive equipment, or even home modifications. All of these expenses are recoverable in a truck injury claim.

Lost Wages and Loss of Future Earning Capacity

If your injuries force you to miss work—or prevent you from returning to your job at all—you may be entitled to compensation for lost income. If your long-term earning ability is affected, we consult with vocational and economic experts to calculate the future financial impact.

Pain, Disfigurement, and Long-Term Disability

Truck crashes frequently result in lasting harm. Scarring, permanent injuries, chronic pain, or loss of mobility can reduce your quality of life in ways that deserve full recognition in your legal claim. These losses may be harder to quantify, but they are no less important.

Punitive Damages for Gross Negligence or Safety Violations

In cases where the trucking company or driver engaged in reckless behavior—such as driving under the influence, falsifying logs, or knowingly violating safety rules—Nevada law allows for punitive damages. These damages are meant to punish wrongdoing and deter future misconduct.

This firm, the staff and Craig Drummond are amazing! They are efficient, pleasant, professional and highly responsive. I worked in the legal field during my career span and truly appreciate the knowledge of Mr. Drummond. I recently was assisting a family member with some legal concerns and reached out to Mr. Drummond and Ximena for guidance. Although he does not practice in this area, he got back to me the very next morning - less than 10 hours later after emailing him at 10pm. He gave very sound and detailed advice and guidance. He also was kind enough to offer referrals to trusted attorneys in the field. I truly am grateful that I have had the opportunity to meet and deal with Craig Drummond, Esq. and consider myself so fortunate. Aloha, B.J. Souza
