Henderson Truck Accident Lawyer

Henderson sees thousands of commercial trucks every day, traveling between Las Vegas, the Arizona border, and regional distribution hubs. With routes like I-11, I-215, and US-95 cutting through the city, the volume of trucking activity is high. When something goes wrong, the consequences are immediate—and the legal process that follows is anything but simple.
Truck accident cases are far more complex than standard car crashes. Victims are often dealing with catastrophic injuries, multiple liable parties, federal trucking regulations, and corporate insurance carriers trained to limit payouts. At Drummond Law Firm, we represent individuals and families who have suffered serious injuries or wrongful death in crashes involving commercial trucks, 18-wheelers, and tractor-trailers. While some collisions may initially appear similar to cases handled by a car accident lawyer Henderson drivers turn to after routine crashes, trucking claims demand a far higher level of investigation and legal strategy. As a henderson personal injury lawyer with experience in high-impact trucking litigation, our team builds cases from day one with a focus on evidence, preparation, and full compensation.

Drummond Law Firm: Strategic Litigation for High-Impact Trucking Cases

Not every personal injury firm is equipped to take on the trucking industry. These cases require aggressive investigation, knowledge of federal regulations, and the discipline to challenge powerful insurers. At Drummond Law Firm, we bring all of that and more.

Military Discipline and Courtroom Experience

Our firm is led by Craig W. Drummond, a former U.S. Army Captain and Judge Advocate General (JAG) attorney. He served in active combat zones and earned the Bronze Star Medal for his performance under pressure. That background now informs our legal strategy. We approach truck crash cases with the structure, focus, and readiness of a military operation. That is what it takes to win against national carriers and trucking defense teams.

A Proven Track Record in Severe Injury Cases

We handle catastrophic injury claims involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, amputations, burns, and wrongful death. These cases are medically and legally complex. We work with accident reconstructionists, medical experts, and economic analysts to build every case for trial. Our team knows how to prove liability and calculate the full value of future care, lost income, and permanent disability.

Our Reduced Fee Guarantee®

Many law firms take a larger share of a settlement than the client. We believe that is unfair. Our Reduced Fee Guarantee ensures that if your case settles before a lawsuit is filed, you will always take home more than our firm. You are the one living with the injury. You deserve the largest share of the recovery.

Direct Attorney Access—No Case Managers

When you work with Drummond Law Firm, you speak directly with an attorney, not a case manager or answering service. We respond to questions, keep you updated, and make legal decisions with your input. Truck crash cases evolve quickly. Direct communication ensures no detail is missed.

Trial-Ready From the Start

Trucking companies and their insurers prepare every claim as if it will go to court. So do we. From the day we accept your case, we begin gathering evidence, securing driver logs, analyzing electronic control modules (ECMs), and working with expert witnesses. Our early preparation strengthens your position at every stage, whether we are negotiating a settlement or going to trial.

Why Truck Accidents Are Legally Different From Other Collisions

Truck accident cases are governed by a combination of Nevada traffic laws and federal safety regulations enforced by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). These rules control how long drivers can be on the road, how cargo must be secured, and how trucks are maintained. When these rules are violated, the risk of serious injury increases—and so does the complexity of the case.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)

Truck drivers and their employers must follow strict FMCSA regulations. These rules cover everything from required rest periods (Hours-of-Service limits) to daily vehicle inspections. When a truck driver skips a required break, falsifies logbooks, or operates outside the legal limits, they put others in danger. Violations of these rules often form the basis of a negligence claim.

Multi-Party Liability

Unlike a typical two-car crash, truck accidents may involve multiple liable parties. The truck driver may be responsible for speeding or distraction. The trucking company may be liable for poor training or forcing drivers to exceed their hours. A third-party maintenance contractor or cargo loader may have made mistakes that led to the crash. Identifying each party—and their insurance coverage—is key to recovering full compensation.

Higher Policy Limits and Aggressive Defense Tactics

Because the damages in truck accidents are so severe, trucking companies carry large insurance policies. These policies are aggressively defended by experienced insurance adjusters and corporate legal teams. They often act fast to limit exposure, deny fault, or shift blame. Without skilled legal representation, victims are at a serious disadvantage.

Data Sources That Matter

Most commercial trucks are equipped with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and event data recorders (commonly known as black boxes). These devices record speed, braking, hours of service, and other valuable data. Our firm knows how to preserve, request, and analyze this data to support your claim. We also review driver histories, prior violations, inspection reports, and internal safety protocols.

Common Causes of Truck Crashes in Henderson

Crashes involving commercial trucks happen for many reasons—but most involve preventable errors or oversights. In our experience, the following causes are among the most common in Henderson and throughout Clark County.

Driver Fatigue and Hours-of-Service Violations

Federal law limits how long truck drivers can be on the road without rest. When those rules are ignored, fatigue sets in. Drowsy drivers have slower reaction times and poor judgment. Fatigue is one of the leading causes of serious truck crashes, especially on long-haul routes like I-11 and I-515.

Overloaded or Improperly Secured Cargo

Unbalanced or shifting cargo can cause a trailer to tip, jackknife, or roll over. Improper loading also makes braking harder and turning more dangerous. Cargo loaders, freight companies, and truckers may all share liability when a crash is caused by cargo issues.

Distracted or Impaired Driving

Truck drivers are prohibited from texting while driving under federal law. Yet distracted driving remains a leading cause of crashes. So does impairment due to alcohol, prescription drugs, or illegal substances. We investigate all possible causes to determine whether the driver was fit to operate the vehicle.

Mechanical Failure or Poor Maintenance

Brake failure, tire blowouts, and steering issues can turn a moving truck into a deadly hazard. If a company skipped inspections or delayed repairs, they may be held responsible. We work with mechanics and engineers to evaluate whether a defect or maintenance failure contributed to the crash.

Speeding or Wide Turns on Tight Urban Roads

Some roads in Henderson are not built for large trucks. Drivers who go too fast through intersections or make wide turns in dense areas put everyone around them at risk. We investigate whether speeding, improper turns, or poor route planning played a role in the collision.

When the stakes are high, you need an attorney who’s already been tested under pressure.

Who Can Be Held Liable in a Nevada Truck Accident Claim?

Truck accidents are rarely caused by one person. Liability often extends to several entities, each with a duty to ensure safe operation. Identifying all responsible parties helps maximize your recovery.

The Truck Driver

If the driver was speeding, distracted, fatigued, or otherwise negligent, they can be held liable for the crash. We review their license, training, and driving history to determine if they violated safety laws.

The Trucking Company

Carriers are responsible for training, supervision, and scheduling. If they encouraged unsafe behavior, failed to monitor HOS compliance, or ignored red flags, they may be held vicariously liable for the driver’s actions.

Maintenance or Freight Contractors

If a third-party company was hired to maintain the vehicle or load the cargo, and they failed to do so properly, they can be named in the claim. We investigate contracts and procedures to determine who had control over each aspect of the truck.

Truck or Part Manufacturers

If a defective tire, brake system, or steering component failed, the manufacturer may be responsible. These product liability claims often involve detailed engineering analysis and expert review.

Government Entities

Some crashes happen due to poor road design, missing signage, or construction zone hazards. When the state or local government failed to maintain a safe roadway, they may be held liable under specific notice and filing rules.

Injuries Commonly Caused by Commercial Vehicle Collisions

Truck accidents are uniquely dangerous due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved. A fully loaded tractor-trailer can weigh more than 30 times the average passenger car. When collisions happen, the injuries are often catastrophic.

Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs)

Blunt force trauma to the head can result in concussions, brain swelling, memory loss, and long-term cognitive impairment. Even with airbags, the violent motion of a high-impact truck crash can cause the brain to strike the inside of the skull, leading to serious neurological damage.

Spinal Cord Injuries and Paralysis

When the spine is compressed, twisted, or fractured, the outcome can be devastating. Some victims suffer partial or complete paralysis. Others endure chronic pain, reduced mobility, or a permanent loss of sensation. These injuries often require lifetime care and home modifications.

Multiple Broken Bones and Crush Injuries

Truck crashes frequently result in fractures of the ribs, legs, arms, or pelvis. In cases where the vehicle is crushed or rolled over, occupants may be pinned and suffer internal organ damage or massive tissue trauma. These injuries typically involve extensive surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation.

Amputations or Internal Bleeding

When limbs are severely damaged in a collision, amputation may be necessary. High-impact crashes can also cause hidden injuries such as internal bleeding or punctured lungs. These conditions can be fatal without immediate medical treatment.

Wrongful Death in High-Speed or Rollover Impacts

Many truck accidents in Nevada occur at highway speeds. When a smaller vehicle is struck by a big rig, the occupants often do not survive. Surviving family members may pursue a wrongful death claim to recover for funeral costs, lost income, and emotional loss.

How Drummond Law Firm Investigates Truck Accidents

Our approach to truck accident litigation is methodical and focused. These cases move quickly, and trucking companies often send investigators to the scene within hours. We match that urgency with immediate legal action.

Obtaining and Preserving Black Box Data and Driver Logs

Most commercial trucks contain an onboard system that records data about speed, braking, gear shifts, and hours of operation. This black box, also known as an electronic control module (ECM), must be preserved. We send legal preservation letters immediately to prevent deletion or tampering of this data.

Requesting and Analyzing Maintenance Records

Federal regulations require commercial carriers to inspect and maintain their fleets regularly. We request maintenance logs, inspection reports, and service records to determine if the truck involved in your crash was roadworthy. If maintenance was ignored, the trucking company may be liable.

Working With Crash Reconstruction and Trucking Compliance Experts

We retain accident reconstruction professionals who analyze the crash scene, vehicle damage, and impact angles. In addition, we consult with FMCSA compliance experts to evaluate whether the driver or company violated federal safety rules.

Investigating the Driver’s Training, Credentials, and Past Violations

A driver’s qualifications are often a key part of a truck crash case. We obtain their driving history, employment file, drug and alcohol test results, and records of any violations or prior crashes. If the driver should never have been behind the wheel, the company may face added liability.

Building a Timeline That Identifies All Contributing Factors

Every case begins with a detailed timeline of events. We identify when the truck was loaded, how long the driver had been on the road, when rest breaks were taken, and what actions occurred in the moments before impact. This structured approach ensures we leave nothing to chance.

What to Do After a Truck Accident in Henderson

What you do in the hours and days following a truck accident can significantly impact your health and your claim. These steps help protect your well-being and preserve critical evidence.

Call 911 and Get Immediate Medical Attention

Truck accidents almost always involve high forces and significant injury. Even if you feel stable, paramedics can identify internal trauma that may not be visible. Emergency responders will also document the scene, which becomes important later.

Document the Scene With Photos and Witness Info

Use your phone to take wide and close-up photos of the crash scene, including vehicle damage, skid marks, debris, and signage. If anyone witnessed the collision, get their contact information before they leave the area.

Request a Police Report and Crash Investigation

Ask that a police officer from Henderson Police Department or Nevada Highway Patrol complete a full crash report. This document provides an objective summary of the collision and often includes diagrams, citations, and the officer’s opinion on fault.

Do Not Sign Anything From the Trucking Company

You may be approached quickly by an insurance adjuster or company representative. Do not sign any documents or agree to a settlement without speaking to a lawyer. These early offers are designed to limit what you can recover.

Consult a Henderson Truck Accident Lawyer Quickly

The trucking company is building its case immediately. You should have someone doing the same for you. We begin working on your claim from the moment you contact us. Our early involvement ensures that evidence is preserved, experts are retained, and deadlines are met.

This firm, the staff and Craig Drummond are amazing! They are efficient, pleasant, professional and highly responsive. I worked in the legal field during my career span and truly appreciate the knowledge of Mr. Drummond. I recently was assisting a family member with some legal concerns and reached out to Mr. Drummond and Ximena for guidance. Although he does not practice in this area, he got back to me the very next morning - less than 10 hours later after emailing him at 10pm. He gave very sound and detailed advice and guidance. He also was kind enough to offer referrals to trusted attorneys in the field. I truly am grateful that I have had the opportunity to meet and deal with Craig Drummond, Esq. and consider myself so fortunate. Aloha, B.J. Souza

Craig Drummond and all of his staff are fantastic people to work with. I was involved in an accident where I was rear-ended by someone in a company vehicle that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. The personal attention that I received and the recommended Medical treatment was invaluable to me. My vehicle was totaled as I was pushed into the SUV in front of me. My award from the judge was in the seven figures. I highly recommend his law firm for any type of injury case somebody might have
